Twitter Lists

In a recent blog post i mentioned being part of a list of twitter accounts of attendees to the SEOMoz seminar in London.

After i put myself on the list i have seen an influx of people following me, i know they are from the list because i also have access to our company twitter account who are also on the list and they are receiving the same followers.

Today when i logged into my personal twitter account i noticed Twitter are now offering a list service themselves. The feature is still in beta which i presume means there are still things to be added but if you are a twitter user that is trying to spread the name of your company then twitter lists could work really well. If you get onto as many relevant lists as possible then keep up the tweets, even if people scan over what you have written you will still be giving exposure to your company logo (presuming you use it as your avatar)

URL’s Being Cached with a Port Number

A problem i have recently come across was a website that had been cached with a port number in the URL e.g. www.example.co.uk:12345. This was created for a website that used a load balancing server so the developers of the website could access a specific server.

Problems arose when somehow Google started to cache the website with the port number appended in the URL. It wasnt long until the rankings of the website slipped. As you can see having this port number in the URL basically duplicated the website which we all know is not good for SEO.

SEO Rocks on Twitter and SEOMoz Seminars

Earlier this week i had the privilege of attending the SEOMoz seminars in London. I have been following #ProSEO on twitter and have read many peoples thoughts. I’ve never been to an SEO seminar before to rate this one against but the consensus was that it was a really good, advanced seminar and i would have to agree. I went into the seminar expecting and hoping that i already knew a lot of what they were going to tell me but at the same time i would be learning different ways to achieve and look at things from a different angle and overall that was the feeling i had when i left.

SEO Rocks

Hello and welcome to SEO Rocks! as you can see this is my ‘Hello World’ post! My intention for this blog is to keep it informative, comment on the happenings of the SEO world, i want it to show off my knowledge and skills in SEO but at the same time i want it to stay as a personal blog and reflect me.

I love to use WordPress as do many SEO’s but unfortunately i dont have many design skills, i have taken the FREEmium theme and modified it so it works better for me. You will probably notice that i will always be tweaking the look and design of the website as im never completely happy with my personal websites!

I would encourage people to leave comments or if you want to contact me feel free to use the contact form.
