There seems to be a bug that is spreading round twitter like wild fire! within the 30 seconds it has taken me to write this, a twitter search for ‘onmouseover’ has returned over 30K results!!
If you are receiving status updates that look like this
Then its because the person has hovered over a JavaScript link which has re tweeted and changed the font size to something extremely large so all you see is black! The code from one tweet i found was style=”font-size:999999999999px”
It seems to be harmless what is currently going round, though i did get an error about Direct Messaging someone so it obviously tried to direct message from my account.
The issue with this now could be security, so far it seems harmless, tomorrow it may be a different piece of javascript which looks to be doing the same thing but is in fact doing something different.
Dave Naylor blogged about this last year and yet it is still a problem.
The new twitter does not seem to be effected by this problem so hopefully in the next few weeks we will be banished of the problem.
In the mean time i would recommend using tweetdeck!
P.S by the end of me writing this, the search had 127,000 new search results, that is a lot if the JavaScript being spread was malicious.
Twitter has been around for a little over 3 years and within that 3 years it has become a sensation that has taken over the internet. I couldn’t find any exact figures for the amount of users twitter has but the articles i read reported between 25M and 32M users. For a website that took 2 weeks to build it can safely be called a sensation.
Working with the internet every day of the week it is easy to forget that some people don’t use the internet so much! Using twitter every day makes you forget that some people have never used it in there lives!

I thought i would share a find ive had with everyone which i think is one of the best WordPress plug-ins ive seen for a while.
WPtouch iPhone Theme simply changes the theme of your blog to make it much more friendly and readable for people visiting on smart phones.
The idea is a very simple one and its nothing new but in a time when everyone can use the internet on a phone then i think it has become a must.

In a recent blog post i mentioned being part of a list of twitter accounts of attendees to the SEOMoz seminar in London.
After i put myself on the list i have seen an influx of people following me, i know they are from the list because i also have access to our company twitter account who are also on the list and they are receiving the same followers.
Today when i logged into my personal twitter account i noticed Twitter are now offering a list service themselves. The feature is still in beta which i presume means there are still things to be added but if you are a twitter user that is trying to spread the name of your company then twitter lists could work really well. If you get onto as many relevant lists as possible then keep up the tweets, even if people scan over what you have written you will still be giving exposure to your company logo (presuming you use it as your avatar)

Earlier this week i had the privilege of attending the SEOMoz seminars in London. I have been following #ProSEO on twitter and have read many peoples thoughts. I’ve never been to an SEO seminar before to rate this one against but the consensus was that it was a really good, advanced seminar and i would have to agree. I went into the seminar expecting and hoping that i already knew a lot of what they were going to tell me but at the same time i would be learning different ways to achieve and look at things from a different angle and overall that was the feeling i had when i left.
